Harold Camping received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley in 1942. He was a lifelong member of the Christian Reformed Church until 1988. He served there as an Elder and Bible teacher for many years while earning his living from his own construction business, which he formed shortly after the end of World War 2.

The non-profit ministry of Family Stations, Inc. (Family Radio-a Christian educational network) was formed in 1958. Eventually Camping sold his business and served as President and General Manager of Family Radio.

Camping’s Open Forum program, a live weeknight call-in program, began in 1961. This program continues to this day and is heard on more than 140 stations owned by Family Radio.

This Crosstalk looks at the reasons for Camping’s prediction that Judgment Day is coming up this Saturday, May 21st. This prediction, based upon Camping’s personal numerology, is bringing disgrace to the name of Christ as atheists and others in the public arena are mocking the general idea that one day Christ will return.
