This Crosstalk looks at two stories. The first concerned President Barack Obama who hosted a Ramadan Iftar dinner that took place at the White House on August 10th. In Muslim culture, Iftar is the evening meal Muslims have to break their fast during the month of Ramadan.

According to the White House Press Pool, guests in attendance included the President’s Special Envoy to the Organization of Islam Conference – Rashad Hussain; the State Departments Special Envoy to Muslim Communities – Farah Pandith; the special assistant to Secretary Clinton – Huma Abedin and two Muslim American members of Congress – Keith Ellison & Andre Carson.

The other story dealt with movie makers that are receiving help from the Pentagon in the creation of a film about the U.S. Special Forces and their raid that killed notorious terrorist Osama bin Laden. However, due to the fact that bin Laden was killed during the tenure of President Obama, it’s also interesting to note that the release of the picture is set for October of 2012, less than a month before the next presidential election.
