Jim began with breaking news that long-time Massachusetts representative and open homosexual Barney Frank will not be seeking re-election.

It was also noted that Donald Berwick, the rationing advocate that President Obama nominated to head the U.S. Medicare and Medicaid programs, has quit his post and will step down December 2nd.

The U.S. Senate has reconvened and on their agenda is discussion regarding the Defense Authorization Bill (S-1867), a bill that provides money and equipment for our troops. Part of this effort is to attach S-598 to the Defense Authorization Bill. Called the Respect for Marriage Act, S-598 would repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (D.O.M.A.) and thereby go against the 30 states that already have public policy goals to recognize marriage as only between one man and one woman.

Also discussed:

–Amendment #1056 (the Wicker Amendment) would protect chaplains from having to perform same-sex marriage ceremonies against the dictates of their conscience.

–Amendment #1120 (the Shaheen Amendment) would make taxpayer dollars available to pay for abortions for military women in cases of rape and incest.

–Another amendment seeks to direct American military resources, not at an enemy, but at American and other civilians far from any battlefield, including in the United States.
