Mark Krikorian is Executive Director of the Center for Immigration Studies. The Center for Immigration Studies is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit, research organization. Since our founding in 1985, we have pursued a single mission – providing immigration policymakers, the academic community, news media, and concerned citizens with reliable information about the social, economic, environmental, security, and fiscal consequences of legal and illegal immigration into the United States.

Immigration Issues are very much in the news today. This morning the United States Supreme Court announced they will hear arguments over Arizona’s immigration law after a lower court upheld a Justice Department challenge to void the law. Hearings will likely take place in April, 2011, with a decision coming down in June. Justice Elena Kagen has recused herself from this case due to her previous positions in the Clinton White House and as Solicitor General.

It is Mark’s opinion that the Arizona law, far from contradicting the federal immigration laws, seeks to enforce it in areas that federal authorities have chosen to ignore.

Also discussed are the positions of the Obama administration and the various Republican presidential hopefuls on immigration.
