He has held senior positions with the Heritage Foundation, Family Research Council, Concerned Women for America, Media Research Center and Coral Ridge Ministries. He has authored 3 books and written hundreds of reports, papers and articles.

Robert began by noting how President Obama’s state of the union address was a “laundry list for the political left of this country”—more government, more intrusion, higher taxes, more attacks on the moral order, more attacks on our economy and more restrictions on energy.

Jim also presented an interesting quote from the President: “So together we have cleared away the rubble of crisis and we can say with renewed confidence that the state of our union is stronger.”

Robert disagreed and reminded listeners that unemployment remains at around 8%. Government spending is out of control with a deficit of 16 trillion dollars and the interest on the national debt alone set to consume about 500 billion per year. In spite of this, President Obama asked for a number of new government programs in his speech while at the same time claiming these new programs won’t increase the deficit.

Jim and Robert discuss other aspects of President Obama’s list like universal preschool; use of executive orders; energy policy; the minimum wage; the gay agenda, especially in the military; voting issues; gun control and also the concerns of Crosstalk listeners.
