--9 insurance companies are pulling out of Nebraska's major medical insurance market. Some of them cite Obamacare as the reason for their departure.

--A.P. reports that those needing to sign up for Obamacare will need to do so by mid-February in order to avoid the IRS penalty. That's 6 weeks earlier than the deadline that was previously communicated.

--The U.S. Justice Department is asking for a delay in a lawsuit by a Christian college in Pennsylvania that is challenging the federal contraceptive mandate.

--Joe Biden seemingly being pushed out of government budget talks.

--”Old Faithful” geyser being blockaded so that no one can see it.

--Utah governor strikes deal to reopen 5 national parks using state tax dollars.

--Congressman Walter Jones criticizes the Obama administration's decision to allow an immigration reform rally on the National Mall while continuing to block public access to the remainder of the national park system.

--White House closes down switchboard for comments due to government shutdown.

--President Obama's critics continue to take him to task over a vote against a debt limit hike that he made in 2006 when he was a member of the U.S. Senate.

--The Pentagon is sending 50 million dollar cargo planes straight from the assembly line to “mothballs”.

--Supreme Court of the U.K. hears the case of Bed & Breakfast owner who would not give lodging to a male homosexual couple.

--Iowa husband and wife refuse to rent their art gallery for a homosexual marriage.

--A State Judge in Washington is reprimanded for refusing to officiate same-sex weddings.

--A New Jersey judge denies the state's appeal to stop same-sex marriages clearing the way for couples to begin marrying beginning October 21st.

--The Dean of the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. claims that it's a sin to oppose homosexuality.

--A Toronto Woman in her late 40's is assaulted during Toronto Life Chain event.

--California Governor Jerry Brown signs bills to allow non-physicians to perform abortions and reducing health standards for the abortion industry claiming this will help the health and well-being of women.

--Next January California health plans must offer coverage for fertility treatments to homosexual couples and unmarried individuals under a new law.

--Long Island middle school bans footballs and other recreational items so that students don't get hurt during recess.

--The U.S. Postal Service forced to destroy entire run of Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move' stamps because 3 of them show children doing unsafe activities such as cannon-balling into water, skateboarding without knee pads and another standing on his head without a helmet.

--The Home School Legal Defense Association filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court to hear Romeike vs. Holder, the German asylum case.

--Arkansas school assigns homework that asks students to erase/revise portions of the Bill of Rights.
