Dr. E. Calvin Beisner is the Founder and National spokesman of the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation. He is an interdisciplinary scholar specializing on the application of a biblical worldview, theology and ethics to economics, environmental stewardship, political philosophy, public policy and apologetics. Dr. Beisner has testified as an expert witness on the theology, ethics, science and economics of climate change policy before the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the Energy and Environment Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce.

The National Climate Assessment Report has been released by the White House. Crosstalk felt it would be fitting to present a response to this report due to the claims that are being communicated by various government agencies as well as the media.

According to Dr. Beisner the map that’s part of the report ‘…purports to tell us what’s going to happen at actually sub-regional levels whereas the computer climate models on which both the U.N.I.P.C.C. and the National Climate Assessment depend simply cannot give reliable information about areas as small as even the entire United States let alone sub-regions of the United States.’

He also said, ‘The second problem with that map and with all similar allegations, is that it ignores the fact…two facts. First of all, that we have to deal with various different weather and climate variations anyway; that this has been going on throughout human history. We always have to deal with floods and droughts with heat waves and cold snaps with severe storms and with periods of calm and so on. We always have to deal with those and in fact according the the U.N.I.P.C.C. as well as all other record keepers on this there’s been no change in the frequency or the intensity of severe weather events like this.’

He also highlighted the benefits of increased warming as well as increased carbon dioxide. This includes an extension of growing seasons and the regions in which growing is done. This increases agricultural production and the food supply.

In light of this, why is global climate change such an important issue to the government? After all, they don’t seem to want to talk about the IRS Scandal, Fast and Furious, Benghazi or people losing health insurance due to Obamacare. Dr. Beisner feels it has to do with President Obama’s progressive vision of big government as it relates to the lives of citizens.
