There appears to be an alarming number of people who have turned from the simplicity of the Bible to a postmodern faith or even a secular worldview. This has led individuals, families, churches and even Bible colleges down the pathway of biblical compromise.
The guest on this edition of Crosstalk has issued a call for this to stop. He wants to see homes and churches end the compromise and to return to biblical authority with the teaching of sound, biblical apologetics.
Joining Jim to discuss this issue was Ken Ham. Ken is the president, CEO and founder of Answers in Genesis and the highly acclaimed Creation Museum and Ark Encounter.
Ken began by presenting some specifics concerning the life size ark that has been under construction in northern Kentucky. This timber framed, mortise and tenon built structure (the largest in the world) will be a Christian-themed attraction and will open July 7th of 2016. Research indicates they will have a minimum of 1.4 million up to 2.2 million visitors per year including many unchurched individuals as well.
While Ken is interested in the big message, others are interested in the big business it will bring. For example, it’s estimated that it will increase the economy of Kentucky by about 4 billion dollars over 10 years while creating up to 20,000 jobs during the same period.
Ken also gave a brief synopsis of two of his previous books-‘Already Gone’ and ‘Already Compromised’ that caused great concern regarding the secularization in individuals, churches and even Bible colleges. The followup is called ‘Ready to Return’. This is the final book in the series. In this book, Ken had the firm, America’s Research Group go to the millennials in our churches to find out what they believe. They were asked questions such as: ‘Do you consider yourself born-again?’ ‘Do you believe if you’re a good person you will go to heaven?’ and ‘Should gay couples be allowed to marry?’
Ken summarized at one point by noting how some people wonder how the ancient Israelites could adopt pagan ways. He went on to note that the teaching of evolution and millions of years is ‘the pagan religion of this age to explain life without God.’ The public schools are imposing the religion of atheism and naturalism on generations of youth and this belief is one of the major reasons why so many millennials doubt the Bible and leave the church.
