An Election Day Challenge

It’s election day in America. Being able to vote is not only a privilege, as many people in other nations long to have the freedom we have, but it’s also a responsibility. Jim also described it in terms of stewardship. In other words, how will you be a steward of the vote that you have today.

Over the years, numerous factions with our society have grown to such an extent that today they can have a significant impact on the outcome of an election. For example, Jim reported that earlier today the pro-homosexual Human Rights Campaign (HRC) indicated that the nation’s 10 million LGBTQ voters have the power to decide who will represent us from the White House to Congress to state houses across America. They noted that in crucial swing states, the number of LGBTQ voters alone exceeds the average margin of victory in the last 3 presidential elections.

Jim reminded listeners that voting for president means you are choosing the individual you want running every federal agency. That includes the Department of Justice, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Environmental Protection Agency, Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Labor, the Department of Commerce, the Treasury Department, the Department of Agriculture and more. These agencies write the policies and rules that impact in some way, every citizen in America.

One-third of the U.S. Senate and all congressional seats are up for election. Others are voting for governors, attorney generals, district attorneys, state legislative governments, Supreme Court justices and considering numerous referendum questions.

This hour was highlighted by an excerpt from today’s Love Worth Finding broadcast. Host Adrian Rogers looked at Romans 13:1-7 in relation to Christian citizenship. For example, did God ordain human government only to tell us to stay out of it when it comes to voting and other aspects of being involved? Discover what God’s Word has to say on the matter when you review this vital Crosstalk program.
