On February 1st, 2003, author and speaker William Federer spoke at a VCY America rally in celebration of Black History Month.  He spoke on black Americans who have influenced America toward Christ and biblical values.   

Famous black Americans discussed included: Dr. Ben Carson, Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at John Hopkins University, Alan Keys, former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, J.C. Watts, Harriett Tubman, Sojourner Truth and George Washington Carver.
