Patrick Henry – June 1, 1765

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriots of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s June 1, 1765. I’m in the Virginia House of Burgesses with one of its members, Patrick Henry.

JG: “Mr. Henry, you sound like you’re on the brink of calling for war. That would be considered treason.

PH: “Mr. Gillespie, the Quartering Act… the Stamp Act… the Sugar Act… now it’s time for us to act. We must resist. We must fight for freedom. And, if this be treason, then let’s make the most of it.”

Patrick Henry did make the most of it as he continued to stir the hearts of Americans to fight for freedom.

After running for U.S. Senate, John founded 1776 American Dream, which exists to demonstrate the vision of our founding fathers and help our generation of youth passionately embrace those values.
