Gordon James Klingenschmitt is a former U.S. Navy Chaplain. He made national headlines and was vindicated by Congress after he took a stand for the rights of military chaplains to pray publicly “in Jesus' name.” Through this ordeal, he sacrificed his own 16 year career and pension but secured the rights of military chaplains to pray publicly, in uniform, according to the dictates of their conscience. His national petition organization, The Pray in Jesus Name Project, has delivered 2.5 million fax petitions to Congress supporting pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-freedom causes.

Attacks continue to grow against Christians and the Christian faith in the military. For example:

--A recent amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act introduced by homosexual Democrat Representative Jared Polis of Colorado attempted to establish atheist chaplains.

--A Lieutenant-Colonel Air Force Chaplain in Alaska was criticized when he used a phrase credited to President Eisenhower who said, “There are no atheists in foxholes.”

--The Obama administration ordered to have Christian crosses removed from chapel buildings overseas in order to make them non-sectarian.

–-While chaplains don't have to perform same-sex marriages, they can be punished for refusing to facilitate a homosexual marriage at a military chapel.

In response to these and other attacks, Klingenschmitt is pushing for an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act of 2014 (Section 530) that would give free speech and freedom of religion rights in speeches and actions to any military personnel who wish to talk about their faith in Jesus.
