Valerie Huber is President & CEO of the National Abstinence Education Association. They are a professional association representing organizations and individuals who support a priority on risk avoidance through abstinence education. Their members serve almost 2 million students each year.

There is a nominee up for confirmation by the U.S. Senate that is causing great concern among many pro-life and pro-family organizations. She is Cornelia 'Nina' Pillard, and Valerie says there could hardly be a more radical nominee for any court nomination due to her controversial positions on many pro-family issues - especially anti-abstinence education views. She even claims that curriculum that promotes abstinence is unconstitutional, as she believes they would not meet the requirement of equal protection for all Americans. If so, it would be illegal to tell young Americans that they should wait to have sex, because it might skew their behavior!

She also believes that 'reproductive rights' should be protected, including free access to abortion and contraceptives, and the right to sexual experimentation at any age 0- even as young as infants.

As radical as her views are, they are based on mis-information, raising the question as to whether, as a judge for what may be the second most important court in the United States, she will continue to be that sloppy in her research.

The importance of this nomination is magnified because the D.C. Circuit Court is often a proving ground for consideration for the U.S. Supreme Court. In fact, four of the current nine justices on the Supreme Court previously were on the D.C. Circuit Court.

A vote on the nomination could come in the U.S. Senate this week, so it is vital that citizens contact their Senators with their views on this nomination, whether or not they are likely to vote for her.
