Mat Staver is the founder, president and general counsel of Liberty Counsel, an international, non-profit litigation, education and policy organization dedicated to advancing religious freedom, the sanctity of life and the family. Mat is also Dean of the Liberty School of Law.

According to Mat, last year in a 5-4 decision authored by Justice Kennedy, the U.S. Supreme Court issued the Windsor case with respect to the federal Defense of Marriage Act. Mat feels that decision was like throwing a lighter on a can of gasoline to burn up marriage. So as states across America have been striking down marriage laws due to last year’s case, now the Supreme Court has decided it’s going to stand on the sidelines while marriage ‘burns’ because they don’t want to hear marriage cases dealing with the states of Virginia, Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconsin and Indiana.

This means that the lower court decisions remain intact for each state. The number moves from 19 states that recognize so-called same-sex marriage to 24 with six more states likely to follow.

Mat also shows from history why a governor or attorney general doesn’t have to comply with what’s taking place in their state; the harm that exists in allowing same-sex marriage; why silence is not an option on this issue; the tragedy of gender confusion and much more.
