In Genesis chapter eleven, we read about the Tower of Babel. Many Christians don’t really think much of it, but it’s an important event in human history!
You see, the events at Babel follow about one hundred years after the global flood, which destroyed the world and all but eight people. At this time, people were all gathered in one place so there aren’t any people yet in Australia, the Americas, Africa, Europe, or most of Asia—everyone’s in the Middle East.
Because of man’s rebellion at Babel, God created brand-new languages, forcing people to spread out. It’s after this event that civilizations begin to form around the world.
