Mike Gendron had a very significant response to his being on Crosstalk when he shared his testimony ‘From Darkness to Light’. For over 30 years Mike was a devout Roman Catholic and was taught to rely upon the Roman Catholic Church, the priests, the sacraments and his own good works for salvation. However in 1981 while attending a seminar he realized the Bible is the supreme authority for knowing truth. He saw the path he was on was diametrically opposed to the Gospel of Grace found in Scripture and placed his trust in Jesus Christ. He founded a ministry, Proclaiming the Gospel, that points people to Jesus Christ as the all-sufficient Savior.

According to Mike, when the reformers came out of the Catholic Church, there were 5 solas that they were proclaiming due to the fact that Rome had denied the sufficiency of Jesus Christ. These 5 solas were: grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone, Scripture alone and glory to God alone.

The Gospel is the cornerstone of the 16th Century Reformation but the man God used as the catalyst to begin this important era of history and the return to the 5 solas was Martin Luther. Mike described Luther as a Roman Catholic monk ordained into the priesthood. He was on his way back as a law student to his home when he was struck by lightning. He cried out to the Lord to save him and that if the Lord would do so, he’d become a priest.

God opened Luther’s eyes to the truth of His Word and that led him to write 95 theses that he nailed to the church door in Wittenberg. These theses dealt primarily with the unbiblical teaching of indulgences (the remission of temporal punishment for sin).

On this Crosstalk you’ll learn about Catholicism’s unbiblical view of justification, Luis Palau’s misleading comments regarding Pope Francis, if Luther was a heretic because of his view of baptism, and much more.
