Fervor Grows Over Taliban Release

Host: Vic Eliason

Listen: MP3 | Order

Vic began this edition of Crosstalk with news that House Majority Leader Eric Cantor was defeated by Tea Party challenger Dave Brat in the Virginia State Primary. Brat credits the victory to God who he claims acted through the people on his behalf. This is the first time a House Majority Leader has lost a primary race since the position was created in 1899.

As many Crosstalk listeners know, President Obama recently agreed to release 5 of the best, high ranking Taliban terrorists in return for Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl who some allege is a deserter. Bergdahl had been held by the Taliban in Afghanistan since 2009.

In the wake of this trade, many questions remain. For example: Are these men a continuing security threat to the United States or just to Afghanistan and Pakistan? Did the President ignore military officials and intelligence in order to ‘green-light’ this trade? Why did our Defense Secretary defend the trade? Why was Congress cut-out of the decision?

You’ll get answers to these questions via audio cuts that include the voices of John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Hagel, Florida Congressman Jeff Miller and Congressman Mac Thornberry of Texas. So join Vic Eliason as he steers you through the details of this most mysterious move by our military and those at the highest levels of our federal government.
