Faced with the dangerous and stubborn Covid-19 pandemic and with fewer than 100 days until a very divisive election, two retired Florida pastors are calling for one million people to pledge to pray for 100 days that God will intervene in these critical matters.

One of those pastors is Dr. James Maxwell, III.  Dr. Maxwell has served the Lord full-time since 1965.  His ministry has included the pastoring of five different churches in the Midwest, he was the state representative for the Wisconsin Association of Regular Baptist Churches and the past president of Faith Baptist Bible College and Theological Seminary.  Now retired, he continues to faithfully service the Lord in his church and ministering in churches across the state of Florida.

Dr. Maxwell believes prayer is so critical because God has commanded it for governmental leaders and all that are in authority that we would lead quiet and peaceable lives.  Secondly, prayer is critical because it’s effective.  The Bible says that the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Some might ask that if God is all-powerful and his decrees are going to come to pass anyway, why should we bother to pray?  Dr. Maxwell again noted it’s because God commands it and because he’s promised to honor our prayers.  Here he referred to prayers that are given in the name of Jesus, with hearts that are prepared and from those who are walking in the light.

Why is the privilege of prayer so neglected by Christians?  What does God’s Word instruct us concerning the matter of prayer?  How should we be praying in times like we’re in today?  How can you get signed up for the prayer challenge?  The answers to these questions and others are available, along with input from listeners, when you review this Crosstalk broadcast.
