Day of the Christian Martyr – 2023

Date: June 27, 2023
Host: Jim Schneider
Guest: Todd Nettleton
MP3 | Order

Over the centuries, many people have given their lives on account of the Gospel of Christ.  Some have been stoned, cut in half, burned, beheaded, and even starved for their faith.

Keep in mind that when we speak of martyrs, we’re not just talking about people during the time of the early church, the Middle Ages or the Reformation.  We’re talking about people in our day.

To bring listeners up-to-date on the state of persecution around the world, Jim welcomed back Todd Nettleton.  Todd is the Chief of Media Relations and Message Integration for the Voice of the Martyrs-USA and is also the host of The Voice of the Martyrs Radio. He serves as a voice for persecuted Christians, inspiring Christians with the faithfulness of Christ’s followers in over 70 nations where they face persecution for being a follower of Jesus Christ.  Todd is author of Forbidden: 40 Days on the Frontlines with Persecuted Christians.

Don’t forget that June 29th is the Day of the Christian Martyr.  What exactly does the term “martyr” mean and why is this day singled out to remember them?  How can you make a difference?

Join Jim as he had Todd answer these questions while also bringing news of persecution and hope from around the world in places like Somalia and Communist China.  There’s the story of Saul and Ezra Pett whose parents died in Uganda.  Then there’s India where Christians are under threat by anti-conversion laws. There’s the extreme violence in Nigeria and the latest concerning missing Pastor Raymond Koh of Malaysia.

Also discussed was a free, virtual event called Hearts of Fire that will take place on July 14th.  It’s about 4 women that have experienced persecution first-hand.  Go to the VOM website or call them for more information.
