Fast Facts: Bees – Part VI

Carl Kerby

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope! I’m Carl Kerby and, today, we’re going to be talking about the amazing bee!

This one is a little bit off the bee-ten path, but it’s a great example of God’s fingerprints on His creation.

One of creations beautiful flowers, the bee orchid, actually mimics a female bee, by looking and smelling like it, in order to attract or bribe the male bee, which in turn pollinates other plants.

The center of this flower is an amazing, three-dimensional duplicate of a bumblebee, including all of the colors and design patterns. Wow! But, that’s not all! The scent is very specific to attracting bees. It’s irresistible.

So, if you’re a world-famous naturalist/atheist, like Richard Dawkins, how do you explain this in the evolutionary framework?

The answer is… amazing faith!

The fact is, this bee/orchid relationship is an extreme example of intelligent design. It would take much more faith to believe that this was a random, evolutionary process than what it obviously is – the genius of the Lord!

Until next time, stay bold!
