Fast Facts: Ants – Part VI

Carl Kerby

Welcome to Fast Facts with Reasons for Hope! I’m Carl Kerby.

There are three different kinds of ants in a colony.

First, there’s the queen ant. Their primary responsibility is to lay eggs and they do that very well – some lay millions of eggs.

Second, there’s the drone ant. These are the males who, along with the queen, are the only ones to have wings.

Third, there’s the worker ant. These have a variety of jobs. Some take care of the eggs, some search for food, and some build and clean.

The largest worker ant is the soldier ant. Their job is to protect the nest and queen, which they will do with their life. They also take over other colonies for food, nesting materials, or space for their colony to grow.

By the way, all of the worker ants are female! Hmmm.

The fact is, ants are one of God’s amazing creations!
