Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports the following:

The total number of induced abortions reported as occurring in Wisconsin in 2017 was 5,818, close to a 3.7 percent increase over the 5,612 induced abortions reported in 2016.

While every abortion is a tragedy, the good news is that abortion is far less frequent in Wisconsin than in other states.

The estimated 2017 Wisconsin resident induced abortion rate was 5.2 per 1,000 women ages 15-44, compared to 5.2 in 2016. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the national rate was 12.1 per 1,000 women ages 15-44 in 2014 (this is the most recent year for which national data are available).

Also of note, the 5,818 reported abortions is still far lower than the 13,218 reported abortions 20 years ago. Let’s pray that we can see abortion in Wisconsin eliminated!
