William Bradford – November 29, 1623

Experience the American dream with today’s Patriots of the Past interview. I’m your host, John Gillespie.

It’s November 29, 1623. I’m with the governor of Plymouth Colony and he has just made an official proclamation for a day of thanksgiving.

JG: “Governor Bradford, could you read a portion of your proclamation?”

WB: “To all ye Pilgrims, inasmuch as the great Father has given us this year an abundant harvest… and has granted us freedom to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience. Now, I do proclaim that all ye Pilgrims… are to render thanksgiving to ye Almighty God for all His blessings.”
