October 28: Do we want Jesus?

I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.

Psalm 81:10-11

God offers to provide for all our needs. The children of Israel were hungry and He provided manna. They were thirsty and He provided water. They tired of manna and He provided meat. God was willing to fill them and He did fill them, yet the people did not listen to Him.

The amazing thing about prayer is not that Jesus said we could move mountains thru prayer (He made the mountains, moving them isn’t a challenge). The amazing thing about prayer is that we act like Ahaz says in Isaiah 7.

But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.

And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Isaiah 7:12-13

We refuse to seek power from the All-Powerful, we refuse to seek medicine from the Great Physician.

Let’s ask God to help us align our desires with His!
