Worry Wastes Time

Charles Shultz, who wrote the Peanuts comics, said, “Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It’s already tomorrow in Australia.”

Perhaps that’s sound wisdom for those given to worrying. It is a proven fact that the overwhelming majority of things we worry about never occur. Someone has defined worry as assuming responsibility for situations God never asked me to be responsible for.

Worry is also one of Satan’s favorite techniques to make Christians waste time by focusing on something other than what God has called them to do. According to one popular motivational speaker, “FEAR,” F-E-A-R, stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. It happens when we listen to the Devil’s lies of what will go wrong if we take God’s way.

Proverbs says that the wicked will flee when no man pursues, but the righteous is bold as a lion. Remember that proverb next time you’re tempted to worry. It will encourage you to be bold and redeem the time.
