Little known about the budget Governor Evers proposed earlier this year is that in that bill, he included a number of provisions that undermine the natural family. For instance, he defines “natural parent” as a parent of a child who is not an adoptive parent, whether or not the parent is biologically related to the child. That’s a serious change. He also sought to legalize same-sex marriage in the statutes, which has never been done, and substitutes the word spouse for husband and wife throughout the law.

The governor even wanted the word spouse used in place of husband anywhere birth certificates are referenced and instead of using the term mother in the description uses “the person who has given birth.” The governor was doing his best to unravel the family and to deny children their birthright. Fortunately, Republicans removed all these so the bill they will soon vote on contains none of them.
