Recently first quarter crime statistics for Milwaukee were released. Included in the report was the disturbing news regarding juvenile involvement. WISN news has reported an alarming trend in gun violence among teenagers. Police say between January and April 27 kids under the age of 17 were shot and injured—up 20 from last year. Police Chief Jeffrey Norman says the department sees “instances of carjackings and firearm-related crime attached to young adults.”

Addressing juvenile crime requires that we at least recognize that fatherlessness is a major factor. In Milwaukee, for years, over 80% of babies are born to single moms, which immediately puts children at risk in many areas. Fathers play a vital role in setting boundaries, enforcing discipline, teaching boys to become responsible men, and more.
